We’re happy to honor Misty’s Dance Unlimited with the Costume Gallery Dazzle Award for Community Service. Since opening in 1998 the studio has provided over $135,000 in combined cash and studio scholarships for young women.

An exciting project that has developed into a tradition in the community, is producing a “Dancing with the Stars” program in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. The idea came from one the studio’s teachers 6 years ago. Misty’s Dance recruits both the “Stars” and the “Pros”. The Stars are local business owners, community leaders, doctors, dentists, radio and TV personalities and have even included the Superintendent of Schools! The Pros are teachers or associates of the studio. Misty Lown, studio owner, decides who dances with whom, and coaches the teams on their theme, dance style (which the dancers select), song, music editing, costumes, choreography and props.

This year’s event was covered by the local TV station and raised a whopping $95,000 for the Red Cross. Over the years, $280,000 has been raised.

Costume Gallery recognizes studios that not only foster young dancers’ bodies, but also their hearts and minds. The Dazzle Award is to acknowledge community minded studios and the ways in which they give back.
